Parents, Students, and Staff,
For the health and well-being of our students and staff members, we have made the decision to implement distance learning for in-person students January 11th–January 15th. Your child’s school or teacher will communicate specific information on how instruction will be provided. Odysseyware students should have ongoing instruction through the Odysseyware program, and your child’s school should be providing information about the program and specific guidelines for the second semester.
We will continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 in our school system as well as in our community. It is our hope to have in-person students back at school on January 19th. We plan to make an announcement regarding the week of the 19th by the afternoon on January 13th. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
Respectfully,
Jennifer Albritton
Superintendent

We will evaluate the spread of COVID-19 in our school system as well as in our community during the next few days. It is our hope to begin the semester with in-person instruction. Update on New School
The Taylor County School District exchanged the property it acquired on Oak Street and State Route 96 for land directly behind the Upper Elementary School. This will be the site of the new school. We plan to have a groundbreaking ceremony on December 14, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. For the ceremony, you will access the property by turning on R.L. McDougald Drive that runs beside the Upper Elementary School. Once you pass the school, you will see signs directing you to an area where you will be able to park. You may access a copy of the invitation by clicking on the link below.
