The idea behind AR is that kids enjoy reading more when they can select their own books. (The program has more than 200,000 titles to choose from on its Bookfinder list.)
Accelerated Reader is a computer-based program that schools may use to monitor reading practice and progress.
It helps teachers guide kids to books that are at kids’ individual reading levels and set appropriate goals for each student.
Kids take short quizzes after reading a book to check if they’ve understood it.
Students at TCUES have Goals set for them to reach. We celebrate these milestones during the school year (ex. Book Tasting, and the Magic Show with Mike Fuller). Talk with your child about where they are in reaching their goals. Reading 1,000,000 words in a school year is our ultimate goal for each student and we will recognize those students at our Honor's Day Programs.
When kids are reading they're learning.
