Congrats to our JROTC drill teams for their 6th consecutive region title. The teams placed first in Armed Platoon, Unarmed Platoom, Unarmed Squad, and Male color guard, while male armed squad placed second. In addition, cadet Bellamy placed first in individual armed knockout drill and cadet Brazziel placed fourth in individual unarmed knockout drill.Teams will now compete in state drill competition for the 9th consecutive year and an opportunity for a third state title. Mega Hooah!

Cafeteria Managers from Taylor County Schools represented the local schools at the GSNA (Georgia School Nutrition Association) National School Lunch Week Kick-Off Luncheon on Thursday, September 27, 2018. The Luncheon and Education Public Relation Seminar are held each year in Macon, Georgia. They are designed to help school systems promote their local school nutrition programs and educate students, parents, school staff, and the community about their programs and passion for feeding hungry children. Taylor County School Nutrition Program Cafeteria Managers assisted School Nutrition Director Martha Harvey in receiving several awards. The awards are as follows:
· USDA Georgia Best Practice Award for Farm to School Program
· USDA Georgia Best Practice Award for Program Integrity (Incentive Salary Program for School Nutrition Staff)
· USDA Southeastern Region Best Practice Award for Program Integrity
Many plans and new ideas are being developed for school nutrition in the Taylor County Schools. With the support and assistance from Superintendent Jennifer Albritton and the Taylor County Board of Education, the school nutrition program is expected to increase participation and student satisfaction.
